Despite a year full of changing protocols, expectations, and imposed restrictions, the staff at Reliance Health have demonstrated their incredible skill in supporting and caring for those served by the agency. We are honored that during such a difficult time our employees have once again recognized Reliance Health as a Top Workplace through the Hartford Courant’s Top Workplace Awards. This is the 9^th year that we’ve received this honor, coming in as the 4^th Top Workplace amongst midsized employers in Connecticut in 2020. We also received special recognition for Meaningfulness this year. The Top Workplaces awards are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by Energage, a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. The surveys were sent to 18,000 employees by Energage for the 2020 awards, with 48 companies being recognized as Top Workplaces in Connecticut. Reliance Health placed 4^th out of 17 in the midsized division.

Laura Mello, our Chief Human Resource Officer, spoke about the significance of receiving the Top Workplace honor during a global pandemic, “This year means more than when we were named number 1 for midsize division because we are in the middle of a national crisis. And yet, our employees, from day one, have shown up. They’ve supported not only the people we serve but have shown up for each other. They are often the forgotten heroes from the state. They make a difference every day. Mental health matters and if this crisis doesn’t highlight this fact, nothing will. I am so proud of our employees and the work they do every day to make a difference.” Carrie Dyer, our Chief Executive Officer agrees, “Under ordinary circumstances, our employees are nothing short of remarkable. Reliance Health employs over 270 individuals who work in residential and community-based settings, providing skills teaching and support to adults throughout Eastern Connecticut 365 days a year.
